Ms. Marvel: What If? Writer worked on Disney Plus series, MCU stars Mark Ruffalo, Brie Larson praise Kamala Khan & more

With Ms. Marvel series first trailer officially introducing MCU’s Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), more details regarding the Disney Plus series have come forward. Furthermore, some insiders claim the character’s origin and power abilities have also been tweaked for the live-action adaptation.

Excitement for the new superhero among Marvel’s cast and crew is already off the roof. Avengers: Endgame stars Brie Larson and Mark Ruffalo tweeted a welcome message to the newcomer playing Kamala Khan, followed by praises from Loki season 1 director Kate Herron to Bisha K. Ali. Disney Plus’ What If… ? writer A.C. Bradley also responded to the Ms. Marvel trailer and surprisingly revealed she also worked on the upcoming MCU series.

Bradley was the head writer for What If…? and is credited for penning 6 episodes. It’s uncertain if her work on Ms. Marvel is uncredited since the artist’s filmography on IMDB does not list the new series. Readers can check out the tweet below.

The first look at Ms. Marvel’s power set has already received mixed reviews from fans. One insider reporting for ThatHashtagShow (with a credible track record) has also shared his concern over plot details though fans are advised to take with a grain of salt. Meanwhile, some fans think changes in Kamala’s transforming abilities are due to her similarities with Mr. Fantastic.

For context, Kamala Khan can stretch and grow in size with shape-shifting powers in Marvel comics. The character idolizes Captain Marvel and fights crime as a local hero. Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige even stressed the importance of Khan’s attributes remaining comic accurate but despite his statement, the new trailer says otherwise.

The official synopsis for Ms. Marvel is included below.

“Marvel Studios’ “Ms. Marvel” is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?”

It will be interesting to see what triggered the change when Ms. Marvel lands on June 8 on Disney Plus.
