As SDCC closes in, the hype for the first Aquaman trailer continues to grow larger among fans. Just recently, Den Of Geek released their cover which offered the first look at various Atlantian characters. Now, we have a new concept art from EW which gives us a glimpse at one of the underwater creatures in the solo film.
EW’s recent issue exclusively shared a concept art featuring one of the fierce sea dragons from the kingdom of Xebel. An outlined sketch of what seems to be a warrior is shown seated on the dragon but has been removed from the picture. Fans can check it out below.
The image’s quality is low so hopefully, EW releases a hi-res edition or fans can pick up the new issue at the nearest newsstand or subscribe to the digital edition and check out the concept art.
Producer Peter Safran says that the Sea Dragons are director James Wan’s way of responding to the mocking from Super Friends cartoon which shows Aquaman riding a sea horse to “turning it into something terrifying and impressive.”
An earlier concept art offered the first look at the sea dragons along with other creatures like the great white sharks ridden by Atlantians. The upcoming trailer might feature glimpses of these creatures in action, especially the Trench which has been hyped for its horror element in the movie.
The producer also went on to tease that he “wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Arthur [Jason Momoa] ride one at some point.” And if some fans are wondering, the dragons don’t breathe fire. That would be silly.
Aquaman hits theatres on December 21, 2018. But the movie is receiving fierce competition from several titles like Mary Poppins Returns, Bumblebee and Alita: Battle Angel. There are rumors that the studio could change the release date and its announcement might take place during their Hall H panel at SDCC 2018. But nothing is certain at present.
