Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War introduced the world to Marvel Cinematic Universe’s greatest villain ever, Thanos. After obtaining the power of the Infinity Stones, the purple-hued Mad Titan, portrayed by actor Josh Brolin, wiped off half of the universe population at the end of the film including some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with just a snap.
Marvel concept artist and creature designer Jerad S. Marantz recently took to Instagram to share an early concept art for Thanos. Marantz described the Marvel villain’s look in the picture as the “philosopher” look. The costume in the concept art looks way different than what finally made it to the big screen. You can check out the concept art below.
Last month, Marantz shared another early concept art for Thanos, showcasing a menacing version of the Marvel villain. He revealed that it was a great opportunity for him to work on the incredible character. The final design was, however, done by @ryan_meinerding_art.
“Early Thanos exploration. This was a great assignment, got to do a pass on Thanos’s face. I didn’t really go much further than this and ended up using the model in my other designs for the character. The final design was done by @ryan_meinerding_art. It was such an honor to work on this incredible character,” the caption accompanying the concept art read.
Earlier this month, artist Justin J. Sweet, who has previously worked on Guardians of the Galaxy and Vol. 2, Thor: Dark World, Infinity War, and the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, shared a concept art on Instagram depicting his interpretation of a young Thanos. The image showed the Mad Titan himself sitting on his floating throne, wearing minimal, gilded armor with Sweet describing the illustration as a sketch of “young Thanos.”
Fans will get to see Thanos in action once again when Avengers: Endgame releases in theaters on April 26th.
