New Set Photos Hints Shazam! Story May Involve Gotham City As Well

It seems DC Extended Universe’s highly awaited superhero film Shazam! has a Gotham City connection. With filming underway on location in Toronto, a couple of new set photos have surfaced online which hints that the upcoming film has some connection with Gotham City. The pictures were uploaded on Twitter by a user who goes by the name PotbellyGamers.

Although Shazam! is being filmed in Toronto, the film’s story is based in Philadelphia. One of the new set photos reportedly features a poster promoting a boxing match. The poster advertises Ace Chemicals, a chemical plant located in Gotham city. To recall, Ace Chemicals is the same chemical plant where the Red Hood became The Joker.  You can take a look at the new set pictures below.

While the filming and production have just begun, the film’s actors and even the director are using every possible chance to tease fans and increase the excitement for the film. Recently, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg shared the first look of the official logo of Sivana Industries, the company which is owned by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, the film’s main antagonist, played by Mark Strong.

Zachary Levi, who is playing the titular role of Shazam in the film, recently shared a picture of him in full superhero costume, but under a jacket. Levi’s fitness trainer Eric Blackmon also posted a video on Twitter that shows Levi lifting a whopping 80-pound dumb bell. The actor is indeed working hard to get in shape for his titular role in DC’s upcoming movie.

The filmmakers are touting Shazam! to be a humorous and lighthearted movie. The film revolves around the story of a teenage boy who transforms himself into an adult superhero by saying the word Shazam. The film lead star cast includes Asher Angel as young Billy Batson, Zachary Levi as Shazam, and Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

Shazam! lands in theaters on April 5, 2019.
