Earlier on Monday, Warner Bros. released its second trailer for its upcoming DC film Shazam!. While the trailer did its job at hyping moviegoers expectations, some still felt there wasn’t a lot to take from the new trailer. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.
In the new trailer, we see Shazam showing off his powers (electricity manipulation) and it seems like one his bolts’ accidentally goes off at a bus’s tire. The vehicle ends up losing control and crashes off the bridge but fortunately, Shazam is quick to grab the bus from its impending fall and rescues the passengers.
A closer look and fans would realize that it’s similar to the scene in Man of Steel where a young Clark rescues the passengers from his school bus after it crashes into a river. A fan account on Instagram pointed out the same that the sequence in Man of Steel also shows the bus getting a flat tire and it ends up crashing off the bridge and lands in the river.
The only difference seems to be that Shazam causes the bus to crash. But its certainly a homage to Man of Steel and seems to be one of the first heroic acts by Shazam in the movie.
It was rumored that Shazam! would have a Superman cameo but was later reportedly scrapped. Moreover, it looks like Henry Cavill’s negotiation with Warner Bros. regarding his Superman contract also hasn’t forward. So it seems unlikely that Cavill has a cameo in the movie but there were rumors that there will be a cameo of Superman but it wouldn’t be Cavill in the costume.
For now, nothing seems to be confirmed and we can hope to find out more post the movie’s first screening.
Shazam! hits theaters on April 5. You can check out the new trailer below.
