A 15-second official teaser trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom confirming the arrival of the full trailer on Thursday was released by Universal Pictures. The film is directed by J.A. Bayona of A Monster Calls, and The Impossible fame.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a sequel to the successful Jurassic World, which grossed $1.6 billion at the box office. The short teaser trailer released today was more of an announcement revealing the arrival date of the full trailer on Thursday, December 7, 2017.
The short teaser was launched by Jurassic World actor Chris Pratt during Football Night in America. The teaser released online is slightly different.
In the teaser, we get to see Owen Grady (played by Chris Pratt) and others running from dinosaurs, and also an erupting volcano. The background and the scenery appear to be the same as in the Jurassic World. It is quite possible that Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard’s (plays Claire Dearing) characters might return to Isla Nublar.
The Jurassic Park franchise first hit the big screen with Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park. The film was an adaptation of Michael Crichton’s novel by the same name. The success of this science fiction classic, based on bio-engineered dinosaurs led to many sequels, all of which did fairly well at the box office. The series ended in 2001 with Jurassic Park III.
It was not until 2015 that Colin Trevorrow revived it with Jurassic World. The film went on to become a huge hit, earning itself a sequel from J.A. Bayona. However, he co-wrote the script for the film along with Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connolly. He also served as an executive producer.
It is too early to predict the box office future of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Whether or not it will top $1 billion at the box office remains to be seen. Nevertheless, fans are looking forward to seeing the world of dinosaurs once again. Hence, the full trailer releasing this Thursday is something that the audience will be looking forward to.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom also stars James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Geraldine Chaplin, Justice Smith, Toby Jones, Daniella Pineda, Rafe Spall, BD Wong, and Jeff Goldblum. The film is all set to release on June 22, 2018.
