As Warner Bros. is getting prepped for the launch of their new DC digital streaming service, called DC Universe, we finally have some information about the third season of the fan-favorite series, Young Justice: Outsiders, which will premiere on the digital streaming service.
The upcoming season three of the animated series, as the name suggests, is going to introduce some actual outsiders to its universe. Looking at a new promotional image released by the makers, fans can get a good idea of the characters that will be making a return in the upcoming season as well as the fresh faces that will be joining the team created by Batman and Black Lightning.
The artwork confirms the return of characters including Nightwing, Superboy, Black Lightning, and Tigress as well as newcomers Katana and Metamorpho who are prominent members of the comic book team. There are also new unconfirmed characters in the teaser poster. The young woman in yellow costume appears to be Lightning, while the one in the green costume could be an updated take on Geo-Force. The animated series Young Justice was initially canceled by Cartoon Network in 2013 after airing for two seasons. But the show’s high viewership ratings on Netflix have led the makers to roll out a third season of the animated series. Notably, the show reached more than 25 million unique viewers in each of its two seasons.
In Young Justice: Outsiders, the teenage superheroes of the DC Universe will be seen fighting against meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy.
Young Justice: Outsiders will arrive later this year on DC Universe streaming service, along with live-action series Titans and an animated series focused on Harley Quinn. Another series based on the Swamp Thing character is also being developed by James Wan. Details about its release date and plot were also revealed.
More information about the new characters debuting in Young Justice: Outsiders are expected to come up in the coming weeks.
