Next Shazam! Trailer Will Show A Better Version Of The Superhero’s Suit

The first Shazam! trailer was pretty well received by critics as well as fans. The only thing about the trailer that came into question was Shazam’s superhero suit. Some fans didn’t like how the suit translates to the screen.

Taking note of the issue, David F. Sandberg confirmed that the suit has undergone a lot of changes since its first trailer debut and that some post-production work is still being done to ensure that the Shazam suit is best portrayed onscreen.

Giacomo Farci, who serves as a trainer to Dr. Sivana actor Mark Strong, recently commented on an Instagram post that the second trailer will show Zachary Levi’s superhero donning a new and improved version of the suit.

Last month, a new image of the DC superhero was spotted online featuring a darker costume with a softer yellow colored lightning bolt on the chest. Soon after the picture was released, a Redditor asked Sandberg to comment on the costume changes.

Making suits is hard,” Sandberg explained.  “Like painting a room you can look at little swatches all day but you won’t really see the effect until it’s done. The color of the finished suit didn’t look quite as expected in some lights (particularly daylight) which is on me since I decided to change fabric very late in prep and there wasn’t time for as many tests. I figured we’d just have to tweak it in post.”

The director admitted that no post-production work was done on the first batch of Shazam! pictures.

The first image released though unfortunately didn’t have any post production done to it,” Sandberg said. “That was right as we were putting the trailer together. I figured since that image was out there perhaps we shouldn’t stray too far from it in the trailer. Might be confusing.”

He added that no images or trailer released till now features the finished bolt effect.

This image is closer to what I’m going for, but it’s all still a work in progress and we’ll see where we end up,” the Shazam! director said. “No images (or the trailer) have the finished bolt effect either (it’s not going to be an extreme effect or anything but it’s not just a simple glow).”

Well, it seems fans will have to wait for the second Shazam! trailer to finally see the new, improvised superhero costume.

The DC film will arrive in theaters on April 5, 2019.
