Director Chris McKay, who promised to roll out some major update about his upcoming Nightwing movie around Valentine’s Day, has some good news to share.
It was when a Twitter user asked Mckay to share some update about the Nightwing movie, that The LEGO Batman Movie director replied with another tweet that read, “Hi! Some early VDay news: Nightwing script expected very soon. Working on rip-o-matic to show studio. This is going to be a LONG process. So don’t expect casting news anytime soon. We are taking our time. Expect big things from DC, Geoff Johns, and WB team! Exciting year ahead!!”
Although McKay had earlier tweeted to a fan to expect “concrete info” at around February, it still seems the project is lagging behind. but the director noted that the script work on the highly anticipated Nightwing movie is in its last stage. In fact, he revealed that they are currently working on ripomatic footage of the proposed film to show to the production studio.
As the entire process will take a lot of time, McKay told fans to not to expect casting related news anytime soon. However, he ensured that DC, Geoff Johns, and the Warner Bros team are taking their own time to come up with a final result that will definitely be something big.
While fans were expecting Chris McKay to reveal something about the plot of the movie or about the lead character, the same did not happen. There are still a lot of unanswered questions that need to be addressed, including who is going to portray DCEU’s Dick Grayson, who will be the villain and whether any other DC characters like Batgirl, Catwoman, etc, would make an appearance in the upcoming Nightwing movie.
Talking about Dick Grayson during the Shanlian Batman Podcast, Chris McKay said that he is so much fascinated with the character that he liked the idea of Nightwing as a movie.
Nightwing is scheduled to hit theaters on February 1, 2019.
