‘Not even a fake mustache?’ Captain America 4 fans are disappointed seeing Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross without iconic facial hair in New World Order set photos

Captain America 4 set photos have been a treat for Marvel fans though the same cannot be said for the first look at Harrison Ford as Thunderbolt Ross. While anticipation to see the Indiana Jones star as Red Hulk is high as usual – some folks are disheartened to notice Thaddeus Ross without his iconic mustache.

With filming well underway for Captain America: New World Order in Atlanta – several hi-res set images from earlier this week offered the first look at Liv Tyler as Betty Ross and Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson donning his army uniform filming a cemetery scene. Newcomers Xosha Roquemore and Shira Haas were spotted filming the sequence as well.

The bigger takeaway from the Captain America 4 set photos arrived from the Wednesday filming in Georgia (courtesy of Just Jared) where Ford and Tim Blake Nelson were spotted. The 1923 star was wearing a formal white collar-Esque attire indicating his President status in MCU Phase 5.

While Ford’s grumpy features certainly invoke Thunderbolt Ross’s personality – the actor was not seen with a mustache, an iconic feature for Thunderbolt Ross in the comics. William Hurt’s Ross as well as Sam Elliott’s from the 2001’s Hulk had grown the facial hair for the Marvel role.

Some MCU fans are hoping to see Harrison Ford use a fake mustache while filming his Thunderbolt scenes for Captain America 4. Others have also tweeted witty remarks on the situation by comparing it to Henry Cavill’s CGI mustache scenario for the theatrical cut of Justice League. Readers can check it out below.

On the bright side, Time Blake Nelson as the Leader was seen with green arms like the Hulk in New World Order set pics. The inclusion of several cast members from The Incredible Hulk has many calling it a sequel to the 2008 film featuring Edward Norton as Bruce Banner.

Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America 4 will also see familiar faces from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series such as Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres and Carl Lumbly as Isiah Bradley. Sebastian Stan‘s Winter Soldier/White Wolf is also rumored to make an appearance for a scene or two like a cameo. Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is also reported to appear.

Captain America: New World Order will fly into theaters on May 3, 2024.
