‘It’s not fresh nor is it rotten..’ – DCEU fans & critics weigh in on Black Adam low rotten tomato score

Black Adam continues to ride high on the Superman hype and Dwayne Johnson’s promise to deliver what fans desire has largely helped the DC Film’s marketing push so far. But can the hierarchy of DC Universe change if the movie’s first round of Rotten Tomatoes scores is already looking weak ahead of its premiere? Luckily DCEU fans think so.

Teth-Adam is all set to rock theaters this week with his menacing arrival on Kahndaq. Early reactions to the origin story feature reaffirmed that Black Adam is an action-packed VFX-heavy entertainer. Even so, critics have pointed out some drawbacks in their in-depth review of the flick, in fact, the Rotten Tomatoes score is out and unfortunately, it’s not looking good for The Rock’s debut.

Black Adam currently stands at 55% of 62 reviews and has been branded ‘Rotten’. At present, it’s a digit lesser than Man of Steel’s score but it’s not the lowest-rated DCEU title either. It should also be noted that the movie still stands a chance of getting a Fresh score after its release as more critics share their RT reviews. Nevertheless, fans on social media are unshaken by the low RT rating for Black Adam.

Some were quick to point out Thor: Love and Thunder was also at risk of being categorized as Rotten but after 426 reviews later, it stands with a ‘Fresh’ rating. Others are outright not bothered by the aggregate review website’s rating. Readers can check it out below.

Promos are doing their part in amping up expectations for Black Adam. Like teasing the action sequences, the trailers have assured Black Adam will be locking horns against Hawkman. However, it doesn’t look like the JSA superhero’s Thanagarian Mace can pack the damage to do a number on him. Still, the Justice Society seems to be the least of Black Adam’s worries, a recent TV spot showed the DCEU anti-hero fighting Sabbac, the main villain of the movie.

Black Adam arrives in theaters worldwide on October 21.
