Peacemaker won’t be available to stream at this time in India but James Gunn tried

Sorry folks, viewers in India waiting for the release of HBO Max’s Peacemaker will have to stand by longer. Director James Gunn has confirmed the series won’t be streaming in the country, at least for now. However, other international regions such as Australia, Singapore, and Thailand, etc won’t have to worry.

Rave reviews and teasers for Peacemaker have many DC fans already sold on the upcoming R-rated DC TV series starring John Cena. In fact, the show currently stands with a 90% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, fans in India won’t be able to find out what makes the gritty show so special anytime soon.

In a tweet from Gunn relaying information on Peacemaker’s debut on international streaming services. The Suicide Squad director was asked by a fan regarding details for India’s release. “I tried I swear but no news at this time,” responded Gunn. Readers can check out the tweet below.

WarnerMedia hasn’t made any active attempts so far to establish HBO Max or HBO Go in India. Even Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which has a huge fan base in the country, was offered via Apple TV, BookMyShow Stream and Google Play Movies as a video-on-demand. The Friends: Reunion was also sold to Zee5. Though, the fan-favorite teen drama Euphoria secured a home at Disney Plus Hotstar.

Recently, Gunn’s The Suicide Squad landed on Amazon Prime, the OTT has been home to quite a few DC titles such as Wonder Woman 1984, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League. But Birds of Prey, HBO Max’s Titans and David Ayer’s Suicide Squad are on Netflix.

HBO Max currently does not have a direct-to-consumer presence in India. Though, the future looks hopeful since WarnerMedia appointed Amit Malhotra as the managing director for HBO Max’s Southeast Asia and India. Added, the official wording for the OTT’s launch in India states, “exploring possible opportunities” for a “potential future launch”

Peacemaker’s release in India is currently TBA.
