Rampage International Trailer Treates Japanese Fans With Kaiju Scene

Warner Bros. highly anticipated film, Rampage, is just a couple months away from its official release. To increase fans’ excitement levels, the studio has rolled out a new international trailer specifically for Japanese audiences that show Dwayne Johnson in full action. Rampage is a big-screen adaptation of 1980’s hit arcade game of the same name by Midway Games.

The Rampage trailer begins with Johnson talking about the upcoming film in well-rehearsed Japanese. He acknowledges the cultural history of Kaiju movies in Japan in the trailer. The actor also promises a new twist on the popular Japanese genre with Rampage.

The trailer in question also features a Japanese voiceover. It gives fans a glimpse of the monsters that will be seen in the film, including a giant gorilla named George, a fierce flying wolf named Ralph, and a large, mutated crocodile, named Lizzie. The trailer towards the end shows Lizzie popping out of the water with a Godzilla-like growl, with its jaws wide open. You can check out the trailer below.

The film’s official synopsis reads as follows:

Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

Directed by Brad Peyton, Rampage stars Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Malin Åkerman, Joe Manganiello, Jake Lacy, Marley Shelton, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the lead roles.

Rampage will land in theaters on April 20, 2018.
