Netflix’s ambitious sci-fi project, Rebel Moon – which is expected to rival the likes of Star Wars could be scheduled to release during the fourth quarter of 2023. The first title will center on Sofia Boutella‘s Kora, a young woman who will recruit an ensemble of warriors to face off against the tyrannical armies terrorizing her peaceful colony. An original franchise created by Zack Snyder and speaking of whom, the director’s fandom on social media is delighted by the potential release date.
Ever since Warner Bros. drifted away from pursuing Zack Snyder’s plans for the DCEU – the Snyderverse fanbase shifted their focus towards the filmmaker’s space opera epic, Rebel Moon. A series of teasing concept art showcasing the futuristic world with a dystopian theme and the stunning production quality in glimpses of character shots like Anthony Hopkins‘ Jimmy, the Battle Robot were enough to convince fans to jump on board.
UPDATE: Netflix confirmed Rebel Moon would release on December 22.
During the filming of Rebel Moon, Snyder did offer a few cryptic behind-the-scenes images from the project but a trailer or rather a first-look teaser is still TBA from Netflix. Though that could change going by the latest rumor from insider MyTimeToShineHello. Apparently, Rebel Moon will arrive on Netflix this December of 2023. Readers can check it out below.
Production on Rebel Moon wrapped up in early December of 2022 so it’s plausible to expect the project to arrive at the end of this year. Fan reactions are filled with enthusiastic responses, with many speculating that Rebel Moon could be one of Netflix’s most anticipated titles since it’s most likely to secure a Christmas release. Still, fans are urged to take this news with a grain of salt since release date schedules are subject to change. Moreover, it remains to be seen if Snyder would require a round of additional photography during the ongoing post-production.

It's crazy how ppl are calling Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon a cheap knock off Star Wars movie when George Lucas himself got a lot of his inspiration from Dune and Flash Gordon for Star Wars. Y'all gotta chill with the hate boner shit lmao.

Meanwhile, Netflix seems confident about building up on Snyder’s intergalactic saga to the point where the studio has signed a first-look deal with Stone Quarry Production for the sequel. Directed from a script penned by Snyder, Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, Rebel Moon also stars Charlie Hunnam, Ed Skrein as the Balisarius, Ray Fisher as Blood Axe, Corey Stoll and Djimon Hounsou.
