Earlier today, A rumor was reported by Superbro movies that director Rian Johnson won’t be working on his trilogy of Star Wars film, leaving fans wondering about the future of this franchise. Fortunately, the rumor didn’t last long to leave the fandom in flux as the director himself debunked the news.
The rumored report ended up causing a huge ruckus on Twitter as many fans urged the director for a response to clarify if he is still working on his Star Wars trilogy. Johnson quickly responded to the news after Doctor Strange Writer C Robert Cargill also tweeted sharing his concern over the story.
Johnson calmly tweeted stating the news was inaccurate and that he continues to work on the Star Wars films.
“No it isn’t true, I’m still working on the trilogy. With all due respect to the movie bros, who I’m sure are lovely kind bros with good fraternal intentions.” You can check out his tweet below.
Superbromovies also received quite the backlash for the inaccurate report but the news site quickly put out a statement apologizing to Johnson and to the Star Wars fandom. The director also tweeted saying, “No harm no foul at all guys, thanks. I think the rumor game makes fandom funner.”
It was announced back in 2017 that the Last Jedi director along with producer Ram Bergman would work on a Star Wars trilogy which would take place in a different and with new a storyline along with original characters.
In a recent interview with From the Grapevine, Producer Bergman teased what fans should expect from this new trilogy.
“It’s a completely new trilogy that writer-director Rian Johnson, my partner, is going to create,” Bergman said. “It’s all new characters. Everything is new.”
There’s still no word on the progress of this new trilogy from Johnson nor does it have a release date assigned yet.
I refuse to believe you didn’t just make up “superbro movies”
