Riverdale: Lili Reinhart (Betty) and Camila Mendes (Veronica) Talk About Their Characters’ Future

Riverdale Season 2 will resume its run on Jan. 17. The storyline will continue from where it left off. Fans expect to find out what happens after Betty and Jughead’s breakup and the big revelation of Black Hood’s identity. Meanwhile, actress Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper) and Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge) opened up the future of their characters on the show.

In a recent interview, Reinhart said that she would like to see Betty a little less stressed out. Also, she wants her to explore her sexuality.

“I want to see [Betty] have a good time. Maybe not having phone calls on the reg with a serial killer, you know? I want her to let her hair down—and not just as a reaction to being depressed and stressed out. Betty didn’t even do [Riverdale’s fictional party drug] Jingle Jangle… I also want to see her explore her sexuality. She never gets to—she’s always stressed! Poor girl,” Reinhart told.

Fans will totally understand Reinhart’s concern as for the most part of the two seasons Betty has been trying to solve the murder mysteries. This has definitely impacted her family and love life. In Season 1, Betty investigated Jason Blossom’s murder. In Season 2, she went after Riverdale’s serial killer who claimed to be dedicating his time to get rid of the sinners in the town. Perhaps, her character development would be different in second half of Riverdale season 2

Meanwhile, Mendes wants to see her character Veronica in more challenging situations. She said that everyone has seen her strong side, but she wants to see her reaching her “breaking point.”

“I want to see [Veronica] challenged—I want to see her at her breaking point… I love strong characters and they’re fun to play, but I think we’ve seen a lot of strong Veronica. It would be interesting to see her in a different light. I want to see her weak and defeated. I want to see her fail,” Mendes said.
