The CW’s Riverdale: What To Expect From Second Half Of Season 2

Riverdale Season 2 is currently on hiatus. The CW series based on Archie Comics will not air another episode until January 2018. Meanwhile, fans are curious to find out what happens when the show returns. In a recent interview, creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa promised that the second half of the season 2 will go back to the “basics” and explore what Archie is originally about.

Following the big reveal about the identity of the Black Hood Killer, the show will go back to exploring the lives of the characters in the school and their mysterious town. As hinted by Aguirre Sacasa, the remainder of the season 2 will focus on what is happening at the school and relationship between these characters.

“The second half of season 2 gets back to a little bit of Riverdale basics,” Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Weekly, “which is focused on stories at the school, kind of getting back in deep on the relationships and the friendships.”

It is certain that there is more to the story of Black Hood Killer. Meanwhile, as hinted by the recently released promo for Riverdale Season 2 Episode 10 titled “The Blackboard Jungle” promo, Jughead will return to Riverdale High School. After Southside High shuts down, Jughead and his entire gang will have to be accommodated in Riverdale High School.

The show will explore the dynamics between the students from the Southside High and the Northside. Unfortunately, the start is not too smooth. Jughead gets involved a scuffle on his first day at school.

At the same time, the show is yet to answer a few questions regarding the new love triangle, including Betty, Archie, and Veronica. Fans know that before dating Jughead, Betty was in love with her best friend Archie. The breakup with Jughead and the unexpected kiss with Archie may have rekindled her feelings for him.

In an earlier interview, Lily Reinhart also responded to the kiss and what it could mean. “I feel like there’s going to be a freak-out, but I think they’re going to try and calm themselves down by saying it wasn’t really romantic and was kind of in the heat of the moment,” said the actress. Going by the ending scene of the last episode of both Betty and Archie sharing a longing look, fans may be in for a “Barchie” soon.

It would be interesting to see how Betty’s mother Shelly Johnson would respond to “Barchie”. but the actress herself has revealed that she is in support of Bughead.

How it all plays out remains to be seen. As for Jughead, he won’t be left alone. A previous report hinted at a new love interest for him.

“There’s still going to be a pulpy noir crime element to the second half, but there will be a resurgence of high school hijinks, and getting back to the roots of what Archie’s all about, which is the kids and the school,” Aguirre-Sacasa added.

Riverdale Season 2 starring KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller and more. Keep visiting Pursue News for updates.
