Deadpool comic book creator Rob Liefeld has begun a possible war of words by warning Disney of terrible consequences for their upcoming film Solo: A Star Wars Story, which will release a week before Deadpool 2.
The creator of Marvel’s Deadpool Rob Liefeld, during his own featured panel at LA Comic-Con last weekend threw some hard words at Disney for releasing their film Solo: A Star Wars Story around the same time as Deadpool 2.
In what sounded like fond memories, Liefeld began with his memories of Star Wars. He then went on to say, “Deadpool comes out June 1st, are you aware of this? Deadpool 2. I am betraying myself doing this. My nine-year-old self is going to come back in time and smack my ass, because when I was nine – and sorry, I’m old, I’m fifty – I saw Star Wars in the theater like this [makes shocked and awe face], because if you were that age like me, there was nothing like George Lucas’ ‘Star Wars’ movie.”
And then suddenly, Liefeld issued a warning to the Star Wars franchise. He said, “But Disney is delusional and is opening ‘Han Solo’ a week before ‘Deadpool!’ And they are going to get their asses kicked! Seven days later; mark my word, skeptical man! [points to audience member] Mark my words: Han Solo, get the hell out of the summer, ’cause seven days later, an army of mercenaries is coming to send the Falcon into hyperspace! Disney I apologize in advance, but I’m telling the truth: Deadpool is going to kick your ass.”
Solo: A Star Wars Story, went through the arduous production process of firing the original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller when shooting was just halfway. They were then replaced by director Ron Howard. Deadpool 2 also had a change of director, but that happened much before the production began.
Solo: A Star Wars Story will hit the theaters on May 25th, 2018 while Deadpool 2 which will introduce new characters such as Cable is expected to release on June 1, 2018.
