The Rock’s Black Adam Might Make His Debut In ‘Suicide Squad 2’

Suicide Squad 2 might well be Dwayne (Rock) Johnson’s introduction to the DC Universe as the big bad guy Black Adam, who is considered to be Shazam’s arch enemy in DC comics.

Dwayne Johnson had asked his fans earlier this year not to expect to see him make his superhero debut as Black Adam in the upcoming Shazam!. The good news now is that fans might get to see Johnson in Suicide Squad 2 where he will play the villainous Black Adam. The news was revealed to The Wrap by two reliable inside sources.

Back in May this year, Johnson had hinted at his character Black Adam’s introduction soon in a conversation with Fandango. “We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can’t reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced,” The Rock had said. Dwayne Johnson was being speculated to play the character of Black Adams since 2008.

The production work for Suicide Squad 2 is expected to begin in October 2018 and during the time The Rock will also be busy with his Fast and Furious spin-off with Jason Statham, the fifth season of HBO’s Ballers, and Disney’s Jungle Cruise. However, Johnson should not face much of a problem shooting for Suicide Squad 2 since his role as Black Adam is unlikely to consume much time.

The original and first Suicide Squad, which had Will Smith and Margot Robbie play the lead role made $750 million worldwide. The film was made on a budget of $175 million, not considering the promotion and advertising cost. However, it remains to be seen how the new Suicide Squad will shape up and ultimately earn at the box office considering there will be The Rock in it! Gavin O’Connor will be the one to write and direct Suicide Squad 2.
