It looks like Rosario Dawson is eyeing for a role in The New Mutants, an X-Men spinoff film. It was revealed that the actress is reportedly in discussion with the studio to play as a supporting character who guides young cast Masie Williams’ Wolfsbane and Anya Taylor-Joy’s Magik.
The Wrap broke the news that Rosario Dawson could possibly star as Dr. Cecilia Reyes in The New Mutants. Her character would play a prominent role in mentoring the two young mutants named above.
Rahne Sinclair a.k.a Wolfsbane has the ability to turn into a wolf. The young mutant would play as a character who must reconcile with her profound abilities along with her religious beliefs.
Illyana Rasputin a.k.a Magik is a young sorceress with the ability to using teleportation techniques and disc to travel. Dr. Cecilia Reyes’s character would revolve around Rasputin and Sinclair in The New Mutants.
In more X-Men news, The New Mutants was recently revealed to be a horror film in the making by director Josh Boone. “We are making a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe,” said Boone (Via: EW).
The director went on to say that they are planning to produce a film quite different from the previous X-Men titles. Moreover, there won’t be any fancy attires to classify the young mutants as superheroes in the movie.
“There are no costumes. There are no supervillains. We’re trying to do something very very different,” added Boone. The New Mutants will begin its production this July. Readers can expect to be updated with more details on Dawson’s possible casting soon.
