Science-fiction horror media franchise Alien may not be over yet. Fox’s 1979 series may have more to offer. According to the latest rumor, The Xenomorph might heading to the small screen as a report states that a television series might be under development.
Omega Underground is reporting that to mark 40th Anniversary in 2019, 20th Century Fox is considering a new television series set in the Alien universe. Celebrating Alien-Day, there is a possibility for the network to announce a new addition to the Franchise. However, it will reportedly not be “film related.”
As per the publication, the first hint about the upcoming rumored series was dropped in April and more sources reaffirmed the rumor. Meanwhile, the problem is whether the series will air on FOX’s FX or any other streaming service. It is said that it could be a part of the 40th Anniversary plan. The big announcement seems like a perfect fit for the upcoming 40th Alien Day in the year 2019. However, fans should take the information with a pinch of salt as the rumor lacks any concrete details.
It is said that if the series is indeed in works, it might be at a very early stage. It is hard to reveal what it is about and what it may look like. As per the speculations, the show could focus on adventures of Colonial Marine unit and not on xenomorphs which would just be part of the universe.
Fans of the Franchise will remember that the fan-favorite series was first introduced in 1979 by Ridley Scott’s epic series with the same name. It was followed by three sequels Aliens in 1986, Alien in 1992, and Alien Resurrection in 1997. Scott was also behind a few prequels known as Prometheus in 2012 and Alien: Covenant in 2017. The iconic franchise introduced books, video games, spin-offs and a crossover with Predator Franchise known as Alien Vs Predator Franchise.
