Earlier in May, Director Doug Liman took his exit from Justice League Dark under the DC Cinematic Universe. He later revealed in an interview that his decision to back out was due to the script, which didn’t seem to appeal to him. Fortunately, it looks like Warner Bros. has found other directors for the project.
Beyond The Trailer channel host, Grace Randolph has stated that Warner Bros. has narrowed down their hunt two other directors. The Youtuber also stressed that it was “on-the-record” and that she trusts the source as he/she also gave her a scoop in the past about Mel Gibson being shortlisted for Suicide Squad.
According to Randolph, Director Daniel Espinosa and Gerard Johnstone are the two directors who could possibly helm Justice League Dark. If true, fans can expect to hear an official announcement soon.
For those unaware, Espinosa recently directed Sci-Fi film ‘Life’. The movie had a great cast but failed to appeal to the masses and critics. In the case of Johnstone, the director isn’t yet quite known for his works in Hollywood. However, some may know him as he directed the 2014’s Housebound, a horror and comedy film.
Readers are advised to take the news with a grain of salt. No other mainstream news website has reported on the news yet.
Earlier, it was also rumored that IT director Andy Muschietti was considered during their hunt after Liman’s departure. There was no second confirmation but it looks like studio passed on to others.
Justice League Dark still seems to be in its development stage. The film would star John Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman, Swamp Thing and Etrigan the Demon.
