If a new report is to be believed, DC movie producer Charles Roven once considered actor Mark Wahlberg to play Green Lantern in Justice League. Roven has reportedly worked on every DC Comics movie since Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins.
According to Revenge of the Fans editor-in-chief Mario-Francisco Robles, Roven had Wahlberg’s name in mind to play the DC superhero Green Lantern in the DC Films universe. Though the DCEU was launched with the release Man of Steel, The next follow-up from Zack Snyder that is Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016 showcased almost all the major DC superheroes including Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as the Flash, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
Since the time it was first announced that the six superheroes would be part of the unofficially titled DC Extended Universe, fans started wondering which Green Lantern the studio would use and who would be cast as Green Lantern. It is unknown if Mark Wahlberg would still be considered for the role in the DCEU since the actor himself posted this picture on Instagram.
The picture in question showed off photos of the entire Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice cast pinned to the wall, including Wahlberg’s picture. The picture showed Wahlberg sporting long hair. So, it is likely that it was clicked sometime around summer 2014 when the actor was filming Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, in which his character had long hair.
We advise our readers to take the information with a grain of salt as Revenge of the Fans isn’t the most reliable source of news.
Geoff Johns, who quit his job at DC to start his own production company, is currently working on a script for a Green Lantern Corps movie which he hopes will impress Warner Bros. and DCEU president Walter Hamada to the point where they’ll give an immediate green light to the movie.
Psst! Bochinche Alert:
If Roven had his way, Marky Mark would’ve recited the oath. But his days of influence in the DCU are over, so that isn’t an option anymore.#GLC pic.twitter.com/tAiRibnZ6Z
