Saturday Night Live (SNL), taking advantage of the release of DCEU’s ambitious film Justice League took a jab at Batman, DC Comics’ caped crusader.
Chance the Rapper, guest host of Saturday Night Live took a hilarious dig at Batman as he criticized the superhero’s “excessive” methods of force to fight crime.
In a sketch from Saturday Night Live’s episode on November 18, Beck Bennett (Playing Bruce Waye/Batman) on Thanksgiving holiday is holding his annual food drive. The many locals (essayed by Leslie Jones, Kenan Thompson, Chris Redd, and Chance the Rapper) are extremely grateful for Wayne’s generosity but openly criticizes the Dark Knight.
The locals wonder in angry and why Batman spends such a lot of time in their neighborhood and punishes people for minor offenses. The locals vows to take revenge for all the broken bones. “You know how Batman is always so tough on crime?” asked Chance. Wayne replied, “I sure do son, and I’ll tell you a little secret, I actually know Batman.”
“Okay, then could you tell him to cool it down in our neighborhood? Somebody’s gotta do something about him. He broke my best friend’s jaw in two places and all he did was steal a TV. That’s excessive,” retorted Chance. Bennett went on to defend his Batman character by saying that the Dark Knight fights crime wherever he spots it.
“Well, it just seems like he’s in our neighborhood all the time,” replied Chance, narrating several stories to back his claim. He also gave instances of petty thefts left hanging 30 feet in the air by their underpants. He concluded with, “It’s just weird!”
Chance the Rapper’s musical guest on SNL was Eminem. The sketch show will return with actress Saoirse Ronan hosting and U2 performing on December 2, after a break for Thanksgiving weekend.
