SDCC 2022 Day 2 recap: Predator movie Prey early reactions, D&D trailer, The Wheel of Time season 3 greenlit, Harley Quinn season 3 explicit sneak peek, & other trailers, announcements

From Paramount unveiling a ravishing D&D trailer to an explicit look at the upcoming Harley Quinn season 3 and the new Predator movie Prey earning a standing ovation at its Comic-Con premiere – there’s no doubt the SDCC fever flew high on Day 2 with exciting special screenings, announcements & interaction zones. So here’s a recap of what went down during panel discussions as well as a few new activities spotted at the event, (like the Bruce Campbell’s Pizza Poppa stand from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) that attendees may have missed.

San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Hall-H fever was off to a great start with the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves trailer presentation. While anticipation was high for the trailer reveal, star Hugh Grant’s charismatic presence during the panel stole the spotlight. “I’ve always been an enthusiastic Dungeon Master,” said Grant and hopefully he was referencing D&D.

The film’s main cast Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Sophia Lillis and Regé-Jean Page were on stage with writers-directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. Pine who plays a mysterious yet humorous bard said during the panel, “It’s got a Spielbergian feel to it… like the movies I grew up with,” (via: DiscussingFilm).

The Wheel of Time fans have two reasons to rejoice, The animated first clip of The Wheel of Time: Origins was released and The Wheel of Time season 3 was confirmed to be in development at Prime Video. The panel had executive producer Mike Weber, showrunner Rafe Judkins, cast Daniel Henney, who plays Lan Mandragoran and writer Rammy Park in presence. A behind-the-scenes video from season 2 was also released.

The new predator movie titled Prey held its world premiere at SDCC and the standing ovation from audiences says all. Early reactions are praising Prey for bringing back the franchise to its early day glory, embracing the original Predator movie. Star Amber Midthunder, the film’s lead was present for the screening along with Director Dan Trachtenberg and stars Dakota Beavers and Dane DiLiegro.

Day 2’s most anticipated panel goes to Teen Wolf. Jeff Davis, Tyler Hoechlin and Tyler Posey were the main guest for the event and unveiled the debut look at the Teen Wolf movie coming soon on Paramount+. Hoechlin also serves as a producer on the feature. But the bigger surprise was Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor Sarah Michelle Gellar arriving on stage and revealing she will be starring in the Teen Wolf spinoff, Wolf Pack.

Meanwhile, even Marvel fans got to indulge in some of the fun. A new SDCC She-Hulk poster was handed out to attendees. The promo material features a phone number with the quote, “I go green, so you get green.” Dialing the digits plays a recorded message by Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters promoting her Superhero division law firm. In addition, the costumes of Sam Wilson’s Captain America (Anthony Mackie), Shang-Chi, Loki in TVA attire, Kate Bishop’s purple suit and Ajak’s golden robe were also on display, along with other MCU Phase 4 attires mentioned in SDCC Day 1 recap.

Over at the world of DC, Warner Bros. Discovery’s big reveal will roll out during their Hall-H panel on Saturday. DCEU fans are currently left puzzled if Henry Cavill would be at the Comic-Con to announce Superman news if any.

But on the bright side, Harley Quinn season 3’s episodes 1, 2 and 3 had a screening at SDCC 2022. A new clip also showed a glimpse of the adult animation taking sex (Yes that means Harley and Ivy being NSFW cozy) and violence to the next level.

SDCC Day 3 Hall-H panels are expected to be jam-packed, particularly for the Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power presentation. Speaking of, star Ismael Cruz Cordova playing as Arondir shared a closer look at his costume.  So Stay tuned for more exciting reveals and readers can reach out to @RAKarthikPrasad to discuss all things SDCC.
