Shane Black‘s ‘The Predator’ Will Feature Strongest & Most Dangerous Yautja, Details

Fans of the Predator franchise are looking forward to the release of Shane Black‘s The Predator, which is set to debut in September this year. It is the fourth installment in the Predator film series following 1987’s Predator, 1990’s Predator 2 and 2010’s Predators.

Black has a special connection with the franchise as he also appeared in the first Predator movie as Rick Hawkins, one of the members of Dutch’s (Arnold Schwarzenegger) elite paramilitary rescue team. He has also co-written the film with Fred Dekker. The upcoming film will introduce audiences to the Ultimate Predator, who’s not just an ordinary predator. It has traits garnered from the various most powerful species which makes him the most dangerous predator ever.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Black revealed all about what went into creating the new ultimate predator.

If the predator was to be an amalgam of, not just an ordinary predator, but also a collection of traits garnered from the various most powerful species that they’ve hunted, then you basically would have one that is stronger, faster, and smarter,” The Predator director said about the new creature.

We finally got an image that we liked, which captures this very canny, very cunning, and effortlessly powerful, savage predator,” Black added. “One of the only quibbles that I’ve had with some of the past predators is that, if you’re not careful, it can look like a guy in a football suit; big, bulky guy just stomping around. I wanted a certain more graceful, more light, more athletic quality, literally like a predator. If you watch a cheetah, it’s not clunky.”

When asked about plans for another Predator sequel film, Black said that there’s room for a next Predator film, but it’s too early to comment on that. He said that he currently wants to focus only on the movie at hand and not on its sequel.

The Predator stars Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Augusto Aguilera, Thomas Jane, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski.

The Predator is set to debut in theaters on Sept. 14.
