Shazam! actor Asher Angel has reportedly completed shooting his character’s part in the upcoming DC superhero film. Angel is portraying the character of a teenage boy named Billy Batson who gains the power to transform into an adult superhero by saying the word Shazam. Zachary Levi is playing the other half of the titular hero.
The young actor posted a picture of himself with Levi on social media to announce that he has finally wrapped production on Shazam!. He shared that he was lucky to have got the opportunity to learn from numerous talented professionals both in front and behind the cameras. He also thanked the entire cast and crew that has helped turn the film into a reality.
“That’s a wrap on Shazam! What an experience – so lucky to learn from the many talented, encouraging and generous professionals both in front of and behind the camera. It truly takes a village. I can’t wait to share and see you all soon!,” the caption read.
Shazam! is a big step in Asher’s career as well as a major learning experience too. The young actor has already worked in a television show titled, Andi Mack.
As Shazam! shooting is going in line with the early production schedules, fans can expect the film to come out right in time of its previously set release date of April 5, 2019. Last month, Warner Bros showcased some behind-the-scenes footage from their upcoming superhero film Shazam! at the CinemaCon 2018 event. The footage was unveiled by the film’s director David F. Sandberg.
The CinemaCon 2018 attendees got to see Zachary Levi as the titular superhero and Mark Strong as the film’s villain, Dr. Sivana, in the exclusive footage. The footage also had some brief shots of Billy Batson (Asher Angel) yelling “Shazam!,” as well as a truck falling from the sky.
The film’s star cast also includes Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Marta Milans, and Ian Chen.
