Shazam! director David F. Sandberg posted his photo alongside the male lead of the film Zachary Levi on his official Instagram account. The picture is taken in Toronto, Canada, where the cast and crew have begun production work on the film.
Sandberg posted a casual photograph of him along with Levi. The picture shows the two in their padded parkas and does not reveal anything else. There is also a dog giving company to the two. You can check out the picture below. The text alongside the photograph reads:
In other news, here’s a good boy who’s going to be in Shazam! Also pictured; a dog.
Levi had flown to Toronto only last week. In a video that he posted on his Instagram account, he appeared sitting with his photographer friend Eric Blackmon. The actor in the video said:
“We’re going to Toronto, guys. We’re going to Toronto to make a little movie called Shazam!”
DC has been in a bit of trouble ever since their ambitious superhero team-up film Justice League bombed at the box office. DC fans wondered whether the studio would go ahead with their lineup of films amid the heavy loss incurred by the failure of their recent films.
However, Warner Bros. have decided to go ahead with Shazam!, which went through quite a bit of hiccups before Sandberg was finally roped in as director.
Dwayne Johnson was previously said to make his debut as the villain in the film. However, the plan has since changed as Johnson is all set to make his debut in Suicide Squad 2.
Asher Angel will play the younger version of the protagonist Billy Batson. In fact, the young actor has already begun shooting for the film. He made the announcement of his arrival on Shazam set by posting two behind-the-screen photos.
Shazam narrates the story of a boy named Billy Batson, who with the mere utterance of the magical word ‘Shazam’ is able to transform himself into an adult superhero.
The script for Shazam! is written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. The film is expected to release sometime in April 2019.
