Shazam Production Start Date Reportedly Revealed, No Black Adam!

It looks like Warner Bros. has quite a few DCEU announcements up its sleeve for SDCC. Finally, the studio seems to have an update on Shazam but it isn’t exactly what fans expected.

A new scoop from comic book journalist Umberto Gonzalez has revealed important details regarding the filming dates of Shazam. The Wrap film reporter revealed on Twitter that the film would go into production in February. Furthermore, he also stated that “one of today’s new DCEU dates could be that film.”

For those unaware, recently, TrackingBoard revealed that Warner Bros. has announced two new untitled DCEU films for 2020. One of the movies is scheduled to release on Valentine’s Day while the other on June 5th.

In further tweets, Gonzalez also revealed that Dwayne Johnson won’t be part of the Shazam film. The news comes as a surprise to the masses as the 45-year-old actor was cast to play as Black Adam long ago.

Black Adam is one of the fiercest supervillains in the DC universe. The character is well-known for being Captain Marvel’s arch-enemy. Fans were expecting The Rock to be cast alongside Shazam in his standalone film. However, it looks like Warner Bros. has others plans for the character.

Earlier, a photo shared by Johnson and Henry Cavill began rumors and speculations suggesting that Black Adam could be cast in the Man of Steel sequel. Since then, The Rock has had meetings with the studio to discuss his role but no public announcements have been made yet.

Fans are expecting Warner Bros. to share these details during their presentation at the San Diego Comic-Con. The event begins this month on 20th and goes on till 23rd of July.
