Some new Shazam! set pictures have been spotted online that offers the best look yet at Zachary Levi’s Shazam costume. In fact, one of the pictures also offers a closer look of Shazam facing off the villainous Doctor Thaddeus Sivana. Mark Strong is portraying the role of Doctor Sivana who is a notorious mastermind who wants to harness Shazam’s magical powers to fulfill his wicked purposes.
Zachary Levi’s costume in the close-up pictures is very true to his comic book attire including a tight bright red bodysuit with a white cape, gold boots, cuffs, belt and a giant flashing yellow thunderbolt on his chest. Thanks to the high-quality pictures, fans were able to spot the two tigers on the clasps that hold Shazam’s cape. The gold clasps feature the same tiger’s head motif that gives a clear call back to another DC character: Tawky Tawny.
Other than the pictures, we have also come across two videos from the film’s sets. The first video shows Shazam rescuing civilians from what appears to be a speeding bus, while the other one shows Doctor Sivana attacking Shazam possibly after his encounter with the speeding bus.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! is the story of a teenage boy, Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who transforms himself into a superhero by saying the word Shazam. It is expected that at least one of DC’s popular characters either Superman or Wonder Woman might show up for a cameo appearance in the film.
Notably, Warner Bros. hasn’t yet officially unveiled Zachary Levi’s Shazam superhero costume. It is rumored that the makers might release the official costume pictures at the WonderCon 2018 event that is scheduled to be held at the end of this month.
Shazam! will get released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
