Starlight fans can rest assured Annie is more likely to have the honor of killing a Supe from The Seven in The Boys season 5. Although taking on Homelander in a deathmatch might be excessive, actress Erin Moriarity hopes her character gets the final say against the most pathetic member of The Seven, The Deep.
The Deep’s gill-wrenching smackdown in the critically acclaimed penultimate season is just a taste of what Starlight actress Erin Moriarty hopes to offer for the “fish guy” in The Boys season 5. In a recent interview discussing her upcoming movie Catching Dust, Moriarty was also asked who among The Seven she would like to see killed in the hands of Starlight. The actress was quick to hint the answer we all know by now, “You know, which one, come on,”
“Listen, I personally, I think that as of this past season, all bets are off. I think that we had certain predictions. I think she should kill Homeander. I don’t think that want or desire will or can be met,” said Erin speaking to Comicbook. Who knows? But she’s got to at least get The Deep, let me kill the fish guy at least, bare minimum for God’s sake…But it needs to be under circumstances where she’s provoked at first because that’s her. She can’t just go and kill someone. They need to attack her and it’s self defense because she’s Annie, but she’s got to get someone and I feel like people weren’t rooting for that as much until this past season. But that concept of a cathartic karma. I think we really need it. So all of the above, all of them.”
Starlight came close to killing The Deep in The Boys season 4 episode 7. but even the most dim-witted Supe among the Seven is gifted with impenetrable skin, a common denominator lately observed among many Supe. But Victoria Neuman’s death in the hands or better said, tentacles of Butcher serves as a fine example that even indestructible skin has its fair share of weakness.
Annie’s strength has been tested repeatedly, particularly during her fight against The Shifter in season 4. With Starlight finally having full control of her flight mode, it only poses more risk to The Deep, a Supe whose advantage relies on the seas and its creatures.
Fans of the show would know the so-called King of Seas’s only vulnerable spot appears to be his gills. In any case, it’s too soon to brush off the possibility of Deep dying in the same manner as Translucent in The Boys finale. But will it be Starlight that pulls the plug on him? It remains to be seen. Nonetheless, series creator Eric Kripke teased no one is safe from facing the axe in the finale.
The Boys season 5 is expected to air on Prime Video in the Summer or fall of 2026.
