Showtime’s Halo TV Series Starts Filming In October, Filming Location Revealed

It looks like Showtime’s Halo won’t disappoint fans with another delay in production. A recent update has revealed that the network is set to begin production on the series and also seems to have a location confirmed for filming.

According to Production Weekly, Halo series’ current filming status is set for this October. Furthermore, the listing has also revealed the filming location as Budapest, Hungary.

Last month, Pursue News spotted the Halo scoop from the production listing which revealed that the series was set to begin production this fall.

Since the start of this year, fans have continued to receive assurance that the project is not dead. Showtime’s president and CEO David Nevins also said that “[It’s] still in very active development”.

Though fans expected the series to have seen the light long back ago, it looks like the network is still confident over the in development live action miniseries to see success such as HBO’s Game of Thrones.

The project has high hopes since it is backed by Steven Spielberg as the executive producer. Though the Oscar winner hasn’t had anything to say about the project since its announcement, his recent film Ready Player One had a few Halo references that gave a glimpse of what the live action series would be.

Ready Player One would have surprised many Halo fans with references such as the MA5B Individual Combat Weapon System. Another scene showed Halo Soldiers as a group’s avatars in the movie.

The end climax sequence had a Spartan squad running on the main battlefield and it also showed the movie’s protagonist character using an M41 SPNKR launcher. As of now, we can only imagine Spielberg’s vision for the Halo series.

Back in 2013, when the live-action project was first announced during the Xbox One announcement, Spielberg had this to say:

For me, the Halo universe is an amazing opportunity to be at that intersection where technology and myth making meet to produce something really groundbreaking,” said Spielberg. “And I’m incredibly excited about the great journey we are all on, the heroes world and wonders that Halo will take us on.” You can watch the entire video below.

Pursue News has reached out for a confirmation regarding the series’ filming location and will update as the story develops.
