Sicario 2 Director Reveals Two Actor He Has Eyes on For Call of Duty Film

Last week, there were reports that claimed that Activision Blizzard Studios has approached Sicario 2: Soldado fame director, Stefano Sollima, to direct the film adaptation of the wildly popular video game, Call of Duty. Interestingly, if the news turns out to be true, then there are high chances that we might see Tom Hardy and Chris Pine playing the lead roles in the Call of Duty film.

In a recent interview with Metro.co.uk in Milan, Stefano Sollima revealed that in case he gets the chance to direct the Call of Duty live-action film, he would love to work with Venom’s Tom Hardy and Wonder Woman’s Chris Pine. Sollima seems to be a die-hard Tom Hardy fan.

I mean, I like almost everything [he’s been in],” Sollima said about Tom Hardy. “I’m waiting for his Venom. Even in Mad Max, he was great.”

Talking about Chris Pine, the Sicario 2 director said, “He’s tough, but he’s smart and he can have a sense of humour but he can [also] be in such a dramatic role, I like when you feel that an actor can play with different nuances and tone because this means they’re a good actor.”

The Call of Duty film is being produced by Activision Blizzard Studios’ presidents Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk along with Activision Blizzard chief executive Bobby Kotick. Kieran Fitzgerald has reportedly penned the script for the film. Rumors are that Sher and van Dyk plan are planning to go for a Marvel-style Call of Duty movie universe. More news regarding the film’s star cast and story is expected to be out soon.

Stefano Sollima’s film Sicario 2: Soldado will land in theaters on June 29. The film stars Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin, who will reprise their roles from the first film.

Notably, there’s currently no release date for the upcoming Call of Duty live-action film. Be sure to check back with Pursue News for all the latest news regarding the Call of Duty cinematic universe.
