It looks like Silver Surfer and Mephisto are making their way to the MCU through Marvel Studios special presentation. A new rumor indicates the one-off feature-Esque format for Disney Plus is already being adapted for the demon lord character with filming underway on the set of Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Marvel Studios and director Matt Shakman are still a long away from delivering the 2025’s Fantastic Four project. But Above the Line’s Jeff Sneider had claimed the filmmaker might get his feet wet first by executive producing a Silver Surfer series – as part of a multi-project deal.

The scooper added in his latest podcast that a Silver Surfer special was in the works, set to release prior to Fantastic Four. However, it should be noted Cosmic Circus was the first to report this information so it seems there is a double confirmation on the Silver Surfer special.

While there’s not much to go on from the breadcrumb report on Silver Surfer – film journalist Jeff Sneider told on John Rocha’s podcast that a Mephisto special is currently in production though secretly on Agatha: Coven of Chaos set.

Earlier in December 2022, it was reported Sacha Baron Cohen had secretly filmed some scenes in LA for the Disney Plus series featuring Kathryn Hahn. So Marvel Studios covertly developing the one-offs does not come as surprise since Werewolf by Night was only announced at the D23 Expo just weeks before its official release on the streaming service.

So Marvel Studios officially addressing a Mephisto special, if true, might still be far off, perhaps set for 2023’s San Diego Comic-Con presentation at Hall-H. Though in the case of MCU’s cosmic entity, Kevin Feige is yet to even find the actor to play the Fantastic Four antagonist.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos was originally announced to be released sometime around Winter 2023-2024. But insider KC Walsh stated the project has been changed to TBA on the studio’s internal calendar and the delay is apparently due to “story reasons”.
