Star Wars franchise’s newest film titled Solo: A Star Wars Story had its world premiere on Thursday in Los Angeles. The first reactions for the film coming straight from the critic’s mouth suggest that the adventure-packed film is an absolute delight to watch. critics who got to watch it seem to have loved the Oscar-winning Ron Howard’s directorial work.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is the origin story of Han Solo played by Alden Ehrenreich. The film showcases how a young Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) takes his first step to become the legendary smuggler and how he comes into possession of the iconic ship, the Millennium Falcon. The film also stars Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Donald Glover as Lando, Emilia Clarke as Qi’Ra, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams, Woody Harrelson, and Thandie Newton.
Notably, the original directors of the film Phil Lord and Chris Miller were asked to step down from the director’s chair just three weeks before principal photography was scheduled to wrap. Lucasfilm then roped in Ron Howard to finish Solo: A Star Wars Story. As per reports, Ron reshot around 70 percent of Lord and Miller’s footage, as he wanted to go back to the spirit of the original trilogy.
Donald Glover’s portrayal of the young Lando Calrissian is unsurprisingly getting a lot of love from the audiences. In fact, people’s appreciation for the actor as well as for the character calls for a possible standalone movie for the character in future. Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Thandie Newton as Val and Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Lando’s droid companion, L3-37, also got appreciations from the critics.
All in all, critics have described the Star Wars spin-off film as a thrilling intergalactic adventure movie full of top-notch action. Solo: A Star Wars Story is expected to gross around $170 million in the opening holiday weekend.

#SoloAStarWarsStory: It takes a bit for it to find its feet and for AE to turn on enough charm to make you forget he’s not HF. But once it kicks into its hey-let’s-make-a-crew and yes-also-do-a-heist stuff, it totally flies.

There’s some fun to be had with #SoloAStarWarsStory. Ehrenreich was solid and really enjoyed Glover and Waller-Bridge as L3, but not convinced we needed a young Han Solo movie. Was really hoping for higher stakes, more energy and depth.

Solo: A Star Wars Story has a light tone and has some great action sequences. There were great moments but some were a bit too on the nose for me. The Chewie/Han bromance is the thing to watch for.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is more of what I loved about Rogue One. Most real looking film in the franchise, and the best blaster actions scenes and vehicle chases. #SoloAStarWarsStory

Another thing about 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' that really stood out are the action set pieces. They were GREAT and so well choreographed.
Also thought Alden Ehrenreich was perfectly cast as Han Solo. Trust me entire cast was fantastic. Can't wait to see it again. pic.twitter.com/Sh5IC8qnSF
