Solo: A Star Wars Story- Mark Hamill Has Some Advice for Han Solo Actor

After months of waiting, fans finally got to see the first Solo: A Star Wars Story short teaser during the Super Bowl 2018 weekend. It was followed by a full trailer released exclusively on Good Morning America. A couple of posters for Solo: A Star Wars Story featuring four of the film’s main characters- Alden Ehrenreich as Han, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke as Qi’ra are also finally out.

Legendary Star Wars actor Mark Hamill recently expressed his views on the first Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards on Monday night, when Hamill was asked what he expects from the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story movie, he said the trailer makes him want to see the movie. He also talked about the divisive reactions that the film trailer has been getting.

This is the only franchise where, if you go on Twitter, they say, ‘If such and such happens, I am so out.’ So now they’re speculating about things they don’t want to see,” the Star Wars actor said. “It surprises me, but, look, you can’t please everybody. You just have to try and make the best story you can. I was sort of taken aback by it, but, who knows? Not everybody likes broccoli. Some people like carrots or Brussels sprouts better. That’s just the way life is.”

When asked if he has any advice to give to the new Han Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich, Hamill said that Alden already has a lot of fan expectations to meet up with.

Anybody that plays a young anything, like when they did the… prequel to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” Hamill explained. “Tom Berenger and William Katt were great, but they said ‘Oh, well he’s not like Robert Redford, and he’s not like Paul Newman.’ That’s already hard. But the trailer looks fantastic!.”

Mark Hamill went on to say that he is dying to watch Solo: A Star Wars Story.

I don’t know what anybody’s complaining about,” Hamill said of Solo. “The trailer makes you want to see the movie and I’m dying to see it, so it worked.”

Solo: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to release on May 25, 2018.
