After months of waiting post the release of a teaser and as promised by the director, fans finally got to see a new official trailer for Disney and Lucasfilm’s highly awaited space adventure movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story, on Sunday.
The trailer in question is packed with high-flying action. It opens with Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) asking Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) if he’s after revenge, money, or something else. The two minute and 11-second trailer give fans a pretty good look at Solo, Chewbacca, and even a young Lando Calrissian, played by Donald Glover.
The new Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer shows how a young Han takes his first step to become the legendary smuggler and how Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) recruits him for a mission to take on crimelord Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany). He tells the young Solo that once he chooses this life of crime, he can’t opt to return to a normal life. In his space journey, Solo is accompanied by Lando, Chewie, Qi’ra and the mysterious Val (Thandie Newton). You can watch the official theatrical trailer below.
As earlier hinted by Glover, it looks like this spinoff film will have a lot more humor to entertain the fan base. In the trailer, Chewie reveals to Solo that he is in fact 190 years old. It looks like the current chewie may well be over 200 years.
In addition to the trailer, the filmmakers have also released a new poster for Solo. The poster features Han Solo front-and-center and also highlights almost all the other major characters that will be at the forefront of the story. The poster confirms that former directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have been credited as Executive Producers, while Ron Howard has received the official credit as the film’s director. You can have a look at the poster below.
Notably, Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The screening will take place on May 15, mere 10 days before the Lucasfilm project debuts in theatres on May 25, 2018. The upcoming space adventure film will also introduce a new Han Solo theme by John Williams.
