The excitement for Sony Pictures’ highly anticipated anti-hero Venom movie is building up fast among fans as the film is now just a month away from its official release. The filmmakers have rolled out a new TV spot which offers fans another look at the symbiotic in action.
The new TV spot titled “Cooperate To Survive” mostly features footage that we’ve already seen. It ends with the already popular “We are Venom” moment when half of Venom’s face peels back, revealing Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and the two together say the three magical words. You can check out the video clip below.
While Venom hasn’t yet hit the theatres, actor Tom Hardy, who plays the Marvel anti-hero in the film, has revealed that he has already signed on for two more Venom movies if the first one does well.
During an interview with Total Film Magazine, Hardy said that he loved playing the two characters in the film and is up for two more movies.
“We’ve signed up for three of them,” the actor said. “So it’s very much an open case. We’ll see what people’s responses are to it. I think it’s an awesome character. I love playing both of them.”
According to Hardy, Venom could exist in his own universe, separate from other Marvel franchises.
“It’s an amuse-bouche,” Hardy said about the upcoming film. “And, for Sony, it’s the Venom-verse launched in isolation, as it were. We’re all prepped for it to be a standalone universe. So whatever Sony want to attach to it at a later date, it’s a fulcrum piece. But let’s see what happens when it lands.”
Based on the Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes comic book storylines, Venom follows the story of a journalist, Eddie Brock, who becomes host to a wildly powerful and equally dangerous alien symbiote while investigating a company called Life Foundation that experiment on humans. Riot, played by Riz Ahmed, will serve as the film’s main antagonist.
Ruben Fleischer is directing Venom from a script co-written by Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg, and Kelly Marcel. The film also stars Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Woody Harrelson, Sope Aluko, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Ron Cephas Jones, and Scott Deckert.
Venom is scheduled to release in theatres on Friday, October 5, 2018.
