Sony Spotlights Its ‘Venom’ Project Screening New Footage At CineEurope

Sony Pictures’ showcased some new extensive footage from their upcoming Spider-Man spinoff film Venom during their presentation at the CineEurope 2018 convention, which is currently being held in Barcelona, Spain. The footage was exclusively shown to the event attendees.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony’s president of international distribution Steven O’Dell described Venom as the most chaotic and unpredictable Marvel character who has finally got his own film. He labeled the film as one of the studio’s most exciting projects in years during the CineEurope presentation.

It is expected that the extended footage shown at CineEurope event could make its way online soon, either officially or unofficially.

Recently, a new still from the upcoming Venom movie surfaced online courtesy of Empire magazine. The image in question featured Eddie Brock sitting on his motorcycle, ready to race into some danger, possibly under the influence of the symbiote. You can check out the picture below.

So far, Sony has released one teaser trailer and one full-length trailer for the film. While the teaser didn’t show much of Venom, the first full-length trailer offered audiences the first look at Eddie Brock’s transformation into the alien symbiote. The filmmakers also rolled out a new poster that showcased Tom Hardy in mid-transformation as Eddie Brock as the symbiote covers half of his body.

Venom is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), from a script by Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower), Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Kelly Marcel (Fifty Shades of Grey). Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the film along with David Householter and Stan Lee as Executive Producers. The film stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying/She-Venom, Jenny Slate as Dora Skirth, Scott Haze as Roland Treece, Riz Ahmed as Dr. Carlton Drake, Woody Harrelson, and Sope Aluko.

Venom is set to swing onto the big screen on October 5, 2018. The second trailer of the film is expected to roll out soon.
