Sony has reportedly roped in Chaos Walking fame writer Lindsey Beer and Captain Marvel fame writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet for the highly awaited Spider-Man spinoff Silver and Black.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the current script for Silver and Black was penned by director Gina Prince-Bythewood. Some of the writers who have previously worked on the Silver & Black script include Westworld showrunner Lisa Joy and Thor: Ragnarok’s Chris Yost.

Beer has a great track record of working in hit movies like King vs Godzilla, Transformers, as well as in the upcoming Chaos Walking, Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek and Paramount’s Ology franchise. Robertson-Dworet has worked on Captain Marvel, which is currently in production under Marvel Studios, and the Alicia Vikander Tomb Raider reboot, which is set to hit theatre screens sometime later this year.

The upcoming movie project, Silver and Black, will revolve around the Marvel Comics characters Silver Sable and the Black Cat. Created by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz, Silver Sable is a mercenary war criminal hunter. The character made her comic book debut in 1985’s The Amazing Spider-Man #265. Sable’s company, Silver Sable International, funds a team called the Wild Pack which was founded by her father.

Black Cat, on the other hand, is a burglar-turned-street-hero. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and Keith Pollard and made its debut in 1979’s The Amazing Spider-Man #149.

In January, there were reports that claimed that Silver and Black would begin film production in March. Now that it is known that new writers have been hired to work on the film’s script, which is yet to be submitted to the studio, it is unlikely that production will start anytime next month.

Sony’s Silver and Black is scheduled to hit theaters on February 8, 2019. Casting details for the film are yet to be announced. The film is being produced by Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal.
