It looks like Sony’s Venom project is officially ready to kick-off with production. Or that’s what it seems like from the recent photo shared by the film’s official Twitter account.
The social media account which was created just months ago finally made its first photo earlier today. The image captioned “Day 1” shows Tom Hardy on the right, officially confirming he is part of the project playing Eddie Brock a.k.a Venom.
There’s not much for fans can take from the photo. It just confirms that the project is on track. Followers who have been desperately waiting for the official account for a post are debating if it’s “Day 1” of filming or its still in pre-production.
While the image doesn’t give out any new details, it seems like the first tweet indicates that more BTS teasers can be expected.
This will be the second screen adaptation of Venom. Fans saw Topher Grace Don the character in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 in 2007. But unlike that, Hardy will get to portray the supervillain character in his own standalone movie.
The project has received quite the support from masses and the casting of Hardy as the main lead also seems to have been accepted by fans. In an earlier interview, Venom co-creator Todd McFarlane also had nothing but support for the actor.
Venom standalone movie will be directed by Ruben Fleischer and is expected to hit the big screens on October 5th, 2018. The project will be an R-Rated film. The film is part of Sony’s cinematic universe based on Marvel characters but will not be a part of the MCU.
