The first 15 minutes of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was just screened at CinemaCon 2022’s opening night and attendees’ reactions tease a bigger multiverse exploration with Shameik Moore’s Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld’s Spider-Gwen supposedly at the center of it. Although the footage is unlikely to release for public viewing – A detailed description reveals the aftermath of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as the culprit behind the multiverse chaos.

If Marvel fans wondered why Sony Pictures delayed Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, well it’s because producer Phil Lord, Chris Miller and the VFX team are hard at work in putting together an Avengers: Endgame level ensemble – (even bigger) introducing 240 characters across six different parallel universes. Clearly, an animation project on that scale deserves more time rather than engaging in “crunch mode,” as did the studio with Spider-Man: No Way Home.
In the first look for Across the Spider-Verse, The two spidey’s from Earth-1610 and Earth-65 meet once again but only to see Morales drop into the multiverse, passing through mind-bending realities, and to top it off, Miguel O’ Hara’s Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) picks a fight with him. But the description from the screening reveals the film begins by showing Gwen Stacy’s POV on Earth-65, dealing with an awkward conversation with her police officer father. And he is also hunting Spider-Woman, the vigilante who’s none other than his own daughter.
Spider-Gwen then faces a battle in New York against the big bad Vulture while also stopping her Father from arresting her. Vulture, although the villain takes the upper hand and is close to landing the final blow to Gwen, is stopped by Spider-Man 2099. It then she learns the events that unraveled during Kingpin’s fight in Spider-Verse 1 have caused a tear in the multiverse which has multiple villains from different universes causing chaos.
On the bright side, the tear has even allowed other versions of friendly neighborhood superheroes, particularly Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman (voiced by Issa Rae) from Earth 404, who is also five months pregnant – to fight alongside the other two Spideys and defeat the Vulture. Readers can check out the details below or even head over to The Wrap to read the full description.

What was so impressive about #SpiderManAcrossTheSpiderVerse footage was how the action was big & wild & incredibly unique, but also they managed to dive deep into an emotional moment between Spider-Gwen & her cop dad. The amount of heart they eek out of 15 min! My god! pic.twitter.com/rKztp6xsl3
