In the upcoming Spider-Man Far From Home, fans’ will witness Peter Parker don several spidey costumes such as the stealth suit and other designs created by Stark. During an interview with Total Film, Producer Eric Caroll gave a little insight of the costume and its backstory.
“Nick Fury provides Spidey with this outfit,” Carroll reveals, “which is very much in the world of what you see with Black Widow and other S.H.I.E.L.D. characters.” However, it still features some familiar elements.
It is true that the stealth suit bares resemblance with Black Widow’s costume and others from S.H.I.E.L.D., similar to Daisy Johnson’s attire from Marvel and ABC television series. Moreover, It is possible we may also get to see a bit more of S.H.I.E.L.D. activity and their prominence in the post-Snap world in Spider-Man Far From Home.
Michael Mooney, an associate costume designer on the movie, explains that “The new suit still has the good old-fashioned web-shooters. It’s a slightly different model in order to make them fit on, but they’re the tried and tested bog-standard shooters.”
Even though the stealth suit has the same web shooters, the suit’s design is a tad different from the rest of the suits. “His Stark suit, which we saw in Homecoming, has all the tech built underneath it,” says Graham Churchyard, the costume FX supervisor. “This one isn’t made by Stark, so all the tech is on the outside; it’s a lot more armoured, but still very mobile.”
He adds that, “It’s made by Robyn Gebhart, who’s worked on every Spider-Man costume since the Tobey Maguire days. She knows the ins and outs of a Spider-Man costume.”
It would be exciting to spot any Easter egg style resemblance in the new suit intended to be a shout out to the old Tobey Maguire version of the suit.
Spider-Man Far From Home releases on July 2, 2019.
