At long last, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have finally unveiled Spider-Man: No Way Home to the members of the press. As embargo lifts, early social media reactions have already rolled off praising the flick as the best Spider-Man film to date. But some are also offering minor criticisms.
Earlier on Monday, the world premiere for the MCU threequel took place in Los Angeles as journalists, a few No Way Home cast members and other artists working with Marvel Studios experienced the movie for the first time. As expected, reactions were priceless as some critics also revealed audiences were the loudest since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
Few critics have called it a crowd-pleasing blockbuster and though some have been critical of the film’s middle act, it seems like Tom Holland’s arc is one that’s gotten a lot of viewers emotional. Moreover, it looks like the third installment also offers a justification to the ending in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Readers can check out the reactions below.
#SpiderManNoWayHome: wow, tears and the loudest crowd I’ve heard since Endgame

#SpidermanNoWayHome sends this trilogy off on a glorious high note! The action is top-notch and the villains steal the show. It felt like a culmination of all the previous 'Spider-Man' films that came before it. This is the BEST Spider-Man film to date! pic.twitter.com/jIMG2aHgwd

One particular film journalist also called the film an “Avengers 4.5” and stated he had some criticism. Nonetheless, its Peter Parker’s story that seems to be the selling point.
#SpiderManNowWayHome feels a bit like an Avengers 4.5. It's not a perfect movie and I have some criticism. But my main concern—that Tom Holland's Peter Parker arc would be lost in all this—was not the case at all. Very emotional Peter Parker story that ties it all together. pic.twitter.com/c9xTfj3NCX

#SpiderManNoWayHome contains multitudes. "Superb surprises, most notably in the third act, bolster some of the more sluggish storytelling aspects." My spoiler-free review via @FreshFictionTV : https://t.co/utV30lhyi7

These villains are not back just to put fans in seats, they are actually used incredibly. Every one of them has a story, a plot point, and a meaningful arc.

From the looks of it, some critics are still in awe at what could be next for Peter Parker after building up the stage for a finale type threequel. Reports from earlier this month claimed that Sony and Marvel Studios would produce three more Spider-Man films spanning a new trilogy, but at the moment, the friendly neighborhood superhero is only confirmed to appear in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness.
It will be interesting to see Spider-Man’s future crossover with characters from Sony’s shared Marvel Universe. Venom: Let There Be Carnage already hinted at a faceoff with the symbiote in its post-credits scene.
In any case, the wait for fans isn’t long as Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives this Friday on December 17.
