Spider-Man: No Way Home predicted to earn $200M opening weekend

An optimistic prediction for the first week’s earnings of Spider-Man: No Way Home indicates to rake over $200 million dollars. Added, Marvel/Sony’s Tom Holland starring flick has already recorded the most ticket presales since Avengers: Endgame.

It’s looking increasingly likely the inaugural weekend earnings for Spider-Man: No Way Home could top the numbers set by Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. A new report from Boxoffice Pro predicts the third Spider-Man film will be the first movie to earn $100 million on opening weekend since the pandemic broke out. Furthermore, if No Way Home hits the $200 million mark it will be the first title to cross that threshold since May 2019’s release of Endgame.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will face competition from The Matrix Resurrection at box office

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ third Spider-Man film will face a tough contender in the second week when Warner Bros. The Matrix Resurrections lands in theatres on December 22. The fourth installment from the franchise starring Keanu Reeves has been making waves as a sci-fi flick deserving of a theatrical viewing. But The Matrix and Spider-Man sequels aren’t the only franchises spearheaded by large fandoms this month. The King’s Man, the third film from the blockbuster franchise and helmed by Matthew Vaughn is set to arrive on December 31st. Still, the prequel won’t be released in conflict with the Spidey flick being a Fox-Disney-made movie.

Unless Spider-Man: No Way Home is hit with unprecedented shifting consumer habits, the MCU flick could be on road to meet its predicted target. The movie will land earlier in the UK (Dec 15) and India (Dec 16) and is likely to see the big earning numbers except if the raging pandemic causes changes to COVID-19 guidelines.

First impressions for Spider-Man: No Way Home is likely to have an impact on audiences as well. It will be interesting to see how social media reviews could affect the threequel’s first-week earnings after the embargo lift.
