Besides fighting the Spider-people in Spider-Verse 2 and facing off against The Spot, Brooklyn’s Spider-Man or should we say, Miles Morales in his true civilian identity must also deal with real-world problems. One of the hurdles includes explaining to his parents why he skipped five Spanish classes. The latest round of promos has also offered the first look at Web-slinger, a western cowboy Spider-Man, a new villain known as Armadillo and the first appearance of Spider-Punk unmasked as Hobart Brown.

Miles Morales’ parents-principal school meeting does not go in his favor when his mom Rio Morales (Luna Lauren Velez) learns of his low Spanish grades in the first clip for Across the Spider-Verse. Though skipping classes might have been the least of his worries considering his bout with The Spot prior to the meeting. Even so, hearing Rio say, “You’re dead” with a straight face might make Miles reconsider his priorities.

The recent TV Spots continue to focus on Miles vs. the Spider-people‘s chase sequence though there are glimpses of never-before-seen shots, like Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) saying, “It’s crazy to run” to which Miles replies, “Running is the least crazy thing going on,” as the scene transitions to Morales being shot by Web-slinger aka cowboy Spider-Man riding on Spider-Horse.

In another international promo – Brooklyn Spidey flexes his invisible powers but the best takeaway is Spider-Punk removing his mask to reveal his identity as Hobart Brown sporting an Afro-Esque hairstyle with a deep voice by Daniel Kaluuya. Miles appears to be in his world which is new London – the dynamic pencil sketch-style character design suits the punky 70s-inspired setting. Earlier this week, a clip offered a new look at Mumbattan too.

Speaking of promotions, Sony Pictures has also been sharing new scenes through social media advertisements and one particular ad shows Jefferson Davis’ (Brian Tyree Henry) “Dad-Sense” being suspicious of Spider-Man, “You are just like my son”. The same promo shows Miles easily defeating an obscure Spider-Man universe villain, Armadillo using his bio-electricity. Furthermore, There is a Mayday Parker-centric clip as well where she explains her backstory, “It all started when my mom met my dad. And they fell in love. And they had me,” she says using her web shooter.

As Spider-Verse 2’s release date nears in, fans hoping to avoid major spoilers may have to stay away from the “web” from May 31st, a day after the LA world premiere for the sequel when both social media and review embargo lift at 12:30 AM ET.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will land in theaters on June 2.
