Stan Lee Acceptance Speech For Disney Legend Award Gets Emotional At D23 Expo

Earlier last month, it was announced that Marvel’s Stan Lee would be honored as Disney legend along Mark Hamill and others at D23 Expo. Finally, during the event on Friday, the Legendary Comic Book Writer was presented the awarded in attendance of a huge crowd.

Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger came on to the stage to call out Stan Lee. The Legendary Comic Book Writer went on with his acceptance speech and eventually gets emotional by the end. Fans can check out the video below (via: Inside the magic).

This was Stan Lee’s first public appearance since the death of his wife Joan which took earlier this month. The pair were married for 69 years. Both Marvel and DC paid their tribute on social media.

Stan Lee has indeed played a major part in the growth of Marvel Universe. Although most of his achievements lie in the comic realm, the actor has been continuously asked to make cameos in MCU films.

The comic book writer also made a hilarious brief appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming. But fortunately, fans got to see more of Stan Lee in earlier promo teasers as well.

Recently, Stan Lee also visited the set of Avengers: Infinity War. Robert Downey Jr. also shared a photo of the comic book writer chatting with the cast members and the Russo brothers.

Mark Hamill was also honored as a Disney Legend at the D23 Expo. Fans can also listen to his acceptance speech below.

By far, the expo has received much support from Marvel fans for its expected upcoming announcements. Actor Mark Ruffalo has already teased fans to expect a new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok.
