Star Wars 9: Filming Scheduled To Start In January 2018

While the anticipating for this year’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi increases, fans would be surprised to know that Lucasfilm has already started planning out the production of Star Wars: Episode IX.  It has been revealed that the studio has plans to begin shooting the movie in January 2018.

The studio’s plan for the next title was revealed in Vanity Fair’s cover story on Star Wars 8. Fans subscribed to the magazine can read the entire piece in the recent issue.

Lucasfilm has just begun marketing Star Wars: The Last Jedi as it is scheduled to release later this year in December. Fans will get to hear more on the film as its promotion increases.

Earlier, the story for Star Wars 9 was to put Carrie Fisher’s Leia Organa in the forefront of the film. Unfortunately, her unexpected death requires Lucasfilm to change their path. At present, the studio is still trying to go past the roadblock and hopes to begin working on the title soon.

Vanity Fair’s exclusive coverage piece has confirmed that Star Wars 9 would begin production in January 2018. It gives the studio plenty of time to write and change its plans to forefront Leia in the film.

American portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz (known for photographing John Lennon on the day of his assassination) has captured some stunning images of the cast members from Star Wars 8. Carrie Fisher was also part of the photo shoot. Vanity Fair has compiled the images in its behind-the-scenes video as well. Fans can head over to their website to check out the photos.
