Lucasfilm has finally announced the dates as well as the location for next year’s Star Wars Celebration convention, where the first teaser of the Star Wars: Episode IX is expected to debut. As per the official Star Wars Celebration website listing, the convention will begin on April 11 and will run through April 15. It will be held in Chicago’s McCormick Place.
Notably, Lucasfilm has a history of rolling out the first teasers of the Star Wars films during the event. The first footage of The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and The Last Jedi were all debuted during the Star Wars Celebration. Now that the Chicago Celebration is going to take place prior to the release of upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX movie, it is highly likely that the attendees will get a sneak peek of the next film in the franchise. It still remains unclear when and on which date will the Star Wars: Episode IX teaser be released.
Talking more about Star Wars: Episode IX, J.J. Abrams will be returning to helm the final chapter in the sequel trilogy. He replaced Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow who was previously roped in to direct the film. Trevorrow left the project due to major creative differences.
The production work on the film is reported to begin this summer. It is expected that the Episode 9 story will follow on from the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. After the sudden death of actress Carrie Fisher, who portrayed the character of General Leia Organa in the Star Wars franchise, it would be interesting to find out how the filmmakers will deal with Leia’s character in Episode IX as they have already announced that they won’t attempt to digitally recreate the actress in any way.
Actor John Boyega, who will reprise his role as Finn in Star Wars: Episode IX, has confirmed that fans will get to see Finn and Rey (Daisy Ridley) sharing the screen space together in the upcoming Star Wars film when it premieres in theatres on December 20, 2019.
