As the highly awaited Star Wars: Episode IX has finally entered production and filming in the U.K., more and more casting information has started pouring in. A new character breakdown has surfaced online that suggest the filmmakers are currently on a lookout for a female actor for the upcoming film.
According to the character description mentioned in a report by ThatHashtagShow, the J.J. Abrams film is looking to cast an actress aged 27-35 for a supporting role. The report states that the studio is looking for “KARINA”, described as “a younger Charlize Theron with street smarts and a sharp wit” who has got “a good sense of humor, solid comedic timing, and a strong voice.”
It recently came to light that the film studio has roped in The Crown star Matt Smith to play a key role in Star Wars: Episode IX. Another actor who has joined the latest Star Wars film is Lord of the Rings star Dominic Monaghan. Details about the actors’ role in the film are currently being kept under wraps.
Notably, Star Wars: Episode IX will mark the end of the sequel trilogy which includes 2015’s The Force Awakens in and 2017’s The Last Jedi.
In recent weeks, some leaked on-set pictures offered fans the first look at the iconic Millennium Falcon and Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and the fan-favorite Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) from the upcoming film.
Star Wars: Episode IX stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, Greg Grunberg, Keri Russell, Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. Carrie Fisher will also appear as Leia Organa, thanks to unused footage that was shot during the production of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Star Wars: Episode 9 is set to release in theaters on December 20, 2019.
